This rare and wildly ethnic box is handmade, from date leaves and goat leather, by a group of craftswomen living in a remote oasis in Upper Egypt, near the Red Sea, called Shalateen. Known for its natural weaving of the palm leaf, this community perpetuates its nomadic traditions, settling in the shade of the palm trees to give life and shape to the previously dried palm leaves.
